Fiesp Cutural Center

center culturalFiesp Cutural Center (Headquaters of the Industry association São Paulo State), The Fiesp is a cultural center that has three main spaces: an art gallery with exhibitions, a theater for performing arts & shows, and also a space for film screenings, lectures and workshops. Entry is free and only some shows and concerts require a ticket for admission. As for the FIESP, its history intertwines with the history of the country. The expansion of manufacturing in Brazilian soil, gained momentum at the end of the First World War (1914-18). Shortages in Europe reduced the flow of imports towards this side of the Atlantic, making room for Brazilian entrepreneurs willing to meet demand. The result is that already in 1920 the number of registered industries came to 4,458.
At the time, industrialists gathered at the Commercial Association of São Paulo. The need to form a political-institutional representation led to the founding of the Center of São Paulo State Industries (Ciesp) in 1928.

With the 1931 decree imposing a union model based on associations, state federations and confederations, the Ciesp had the name changed to Federation of São Paulo State Industries (FIESP). In 1939, industrial leaders have permission to set up a civil society associated with the Federation. Thus returned to active, in 1942, the Ciesp, as civil society organizations involved in Fiesp, with the original purposes 1928 adapted to the moment.
Since then, Fiesp has highlighted its activities to foster new thinking and a new methodology around the industrialization key initiative for Brazil to broaden its industrial park.
Today, the Fiesp struggles primarily for the Brazilian competitiveness, with claims to reduce production costs and contain deindustrialization.
