Paranapiacaba is a village 1hr away from São Paulo downtown, located amidst the Serra do Mar Coastal forests (mountain range) in the south coast. It has a huge biodiversity of wildlife, flora, springs that form beautiful waterfalls making it perfect for the practice of adventurous sports, including hiking, rappelling, cascading, mountain bike besides walks in the rain forest, bird watching, among other activities. Paranapiacaba is just a few kilometers from the shore on the higher lands of Serra do Mar where it came to be known as “a place to view the sea” in Tupi-Guarani language. The admiration of such picturesque scenery is only interrupted by the fog that lies intermittently over the village. The village emerged in the 19th century due to the construction of the railroad by British Railway Company in order to facilitate the transport of the black gold, “coffee”, to the Port of Santos, where the noble product follow towards Europe and US. Hundreds of people reach the village either by train or road every month in search of tranquility of excitement or just to change things up.
