Vila Madalena Bohemian Neighborhood

Vila MadalenaVila Madalena Bohemian Neighborhood (Urban Street Art – Ateliers). Vila Madalena is a bohemian neighborhood with lots of galleries, small private studios, hip shops, ateliers, and not to mention the Murals and nice graffiti art that cover the walls all over.

The first stop for visitors is Beco do Batman, an alleyway filled with graffiti that has made headlines around the world. Graffiti artists are constantly updating their masterpieces and an empty white space on the wall is virtually impossible to find. Just around the corner at Medeiros de Albuquerque 250 St, visitors are provoked to check out Choque Cultural, an art gallery specializing in pop and street art . Some of the best new Brazilian street art artists are said to have work displayed at this the spot.

The Vila’s cultural life is unique, vibrating and incredibly diverse. It is something you won’t find anywhere else in São Paulo.
Vila Madalena’s main attractions are the bars & Pubs located on a four block radius extending from Harmonia St. to Fradique Coutinho St and from Luis Murat St. to Purpurina St. There are dozens of specialty shops up and down Rua Aspicuelta, selling sweets, decorated boxes, and jewelry. Although the neighborhood is well-known for its nightlife, there are many places ones should not miss while touring the region during the day. Many local artists have opened their workshops to visitors, selling much of their wares on the spot. After all the walking and exploring, many enjoy recovering at Melograno, an oasis in the middle of the chaos. The restaurant’s menu suggests beers to accompany its sandwiches and pizzas. According to Melograno’s waiters there are 170 brands of beers from all over the world available at the restaurant.
