Burle Marx Park Tour

Burle MarxBurle Marx Park (Well-maintained park in Morumbi area). The landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx created the artistic and landscape design of the park especially to integrate the gardens of a house, designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1950s.

This house has never been completed or inhabited, so in the 1990s was demolished. In 1995 the gardens gave way for the park. As the proposal of the park is more contemplative, the Burle Marx garden is the main attraction, with its royal palms, a set of sculptures of the panel in a high and low reliefs, reflecting pools, and a two-color lawn that pretends to be a chessboard.

Another highlight is the rammed-earth House, which is an age-old process of construction which was brought by the Portuguese and is of great significance for its historical and cultural value. The local flora is made up of remnants of the Atlantic Forest species and eucalyptus reforestation, and has landscaped areas which highlights species such as palm trees, Andá-açu, Brazil wood, avocado and royal palms. The fauna consists of more than 90 species of animals among aquatic and terrestrials. The park has an area of 138,000 square meters and is home to tracks for jogging and strolling, outdoor workout area, playground, springs and lakes.
