Law School of the Saint Fracis square (First college in Brazil). In 1827, a few years after the proclamation of the Independence of Brazil, the Law Academy was established in São Paulo, as a key institution for the development of the nation.
It was a fundamental pillar of the Empire, since it sought to graduate government and public officials able to structure and lead the newly emancipated country.
Its students and graduates, led the main political movements in the history of Brazil, from the Abolition to the Republican Movement. Over time, nine Presidents, several governors, mayors and countless other leading figures graduate in the Law College.
The Bustling of life that the Law college introduced in the small São Paulo in the nineteenth century reflected in countless cultural activities such as plays, pieces literary, poetic works and parties that represented foundations of the national intellectual life and caused a positive transformation that the city had never.
