Museum Pinacoteca Station Tour

Museum PinacotecaThe Pinacoteca Station is a early 1900’s building that once housed the railroad Sorocabana warehouses and offices. It is the oldest art museum in São Paulo, and established as a state museum since 1911. The Sao Paulo Resistance Memorial which is located on the Pinacoteca’s station ground floor, was created as part of the transformation of the building in a museum, since it was once the headquarters of governmental department responsible for oppressive acts against dissidents of the Dictatorship that lasted from 1964 to 1984 . The institution is dedicated to preserve the memory of the political repression and resistance occurred during this period.
