The Sala Sao Paulo is a concert hall located in the historic Julio Prestes Train Station in the downtown area of São Paulo.
It is one of the most modern and well equipped concert halls in the world. Many experts consider it, with its outstanding acoustics, comparable to other top concert halls worldwide.
The hall can accommodate nearly 1,500 spectators and has 22 balconies at mezzanine and first floor levels. It has an adjustable ceiling so that the intensity of any composition has the correct acoustic levels.
The adjustable ceiling is suspended 25 meters above the main floor and consists of 15 ceiling panels that can be adjusted independently or together, through the use of computers and automatic sensors.
The building is the headquarters of the State Symphony Orchestra of Sao Paulo, known as Orquestra Sinfonica do Estado de Sao Paulo (OSESP). Visitors can take a guided tour through the majestic building or watch a weekly concert of the São Paulo Sympathy Orchestra.
